Robert DuBoise Joins Mac Smith
and Harris, Finley and Bogle, P.C.
in Weatherford
By: Andy Sims
Harris, Finley & Bogle, P.C. (“HFB”) is thrilled that Robert
DuBoise is joining HFB to practice law with Mac Smith and
Brison Bursey in HFB’s Weatherford office. Robert and his
wife, Jolene, are long-time residents of Parker County, and
their parents are also long-time residents of Parker County.
Robert and Jolene have raised two sons, Christian and Jackson.
Christian is a Second Lieutenant infantry officer in the
United States Army, and Jackson is a sophomore at Texas
Tech. This short introduction does not do Robert and Jolene
justice, so we hope you will be able to meet them soon.
Faith and Community Matters
Robert and Jolene are faithful members of Lakeshore Baptist
Church. They have both actively served on committees at
Lakeshore, and Robert is a Deacon. They also live out their
faith through serving the public good professionally, as
parents of two outstanding sons, and as adult children who
care deeply about their own parents. True to form, Robert
and Jolene exercise every evening to keep their bodies
and minds healthy. If you are already struggling to fulfill a
New Year’s fitness resolution, get in touch with Robert and
Jolene—no backsliding allowed!
Jolene is the Court Coordinator for the 43rd District Court
in Weatherford. Judge Craig Towson is the Presiding Judge
and Jolene has been the Coordinator there for 18 years.
Anyone who has been fortunate enough to work with
Jolene knows she is extraordinarily competent, respectful,
and professional. Robert is also a consummate professional,
having prosecuted hundreds of cases involving persons
who have committed horrific crimes and felonies. Although
trial work can be exhausting, for more than 30 years Robert
has treated Judges, lawyers, court personnel, and clients
with respect and dignity. Robert and Jolene live out their
faith, and the Parker County community is fortunate they
call Parker County home.
Educational and Professional Excellence
Robert was a junior in high school in Iowa Park when his father,
a career military officer, announced the family was being
transferred to Houston. Robert reluctantly left North Texas for
his senior year in high school, but the experience and challenge
of uprooting at that time created new opportunities.
Robert attended Houston Baptist University, where he
graduated in 1989. He then attended the University of
Houston Law Center, graduating Cum Laude in 1992.
After graduating from law school, Robert worked in private
practice as a civil trial lawyer for four years with a firm in
Houston, then opened his own firm where he practiced for
another five years in civil trial litigation. Out of his desire
to make our communities safer and further develop his trial
skills, Robert joined the
San Jacinto District
Attorney’s office in
2000, where he
prosecuted felonies and
also worked on civil
litigation matters for the
County. In 2002, Robert
joined the Parker County
District Attorney’s office, where he worked from 2002-2017, and
prosecuted hundreds of cases. Robert then joined the Palo Pinto
District Attorney’s office in 2017, and has continued to prosecute
felonies there. Throughout his career, Robert has distinguished
himself as an outstanding trial attorney, and even better person.
Storied Career
Any trial lawyer who has been in the courtroom for a while has
plenty of good stories to tell. With some folks, the stories get better
with time. Not Robert. He does not need to embellish because
permanent records tell the extraordinary stories of his achievements.
For example, in one case, Robert persuaded the Court to hand
down a sentence of 40 consecutive life sentences. That case dealt
with horrible crimes, and the defendant will not be eligible for parole
until he has served 1,230 years in prison! In another, the jury
took less than 30 minutes to convict the defendant of organized
criminal activity in a large-scale drug ring that had been investigated
by multiple law enforcement agencies for several years. And, the
jury took only 15 minutes to convict the same defendant to life in
prison. Robert is an excellent trial lawyer and, given his civil and
criminal experience, will be able to assist clients in a wide variety
of both civil and criminal defense legal matters.
HFB Weatherford Office
HFB was founded in 1977 in Fort Worth. It opened its Weatherford
office in 2017 with Mac Smith and his long-time paralegal, Kim
Cherryhomes. A year later they welcomed Brison Bursey, and his
legal assistant, Sheila Plyler, as well as receptionist, Carrie Cashman.
The addition of Robert S. DuBoise to HFB’s Weatherford office
adds substantial strength to the significant capabilities HFB is able
to provide its clients in Parker, Tarrant, and surrounding counties,
and throughout Texas and other states. Please stop by HFB’s
Weatherford office at 120 Palo Pinto Street and introduce yourself
to Mac, Robert, Brison, Kim, Sheila and Carrie. We look forward to
continuing to grow together!
Andy Sims has practiced civil trial and appellate litigation for 33
years with HFB. He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal

the State of Texas by Thompson Reuters, as published in Texas Monthly.
