Come Glamp With Me - The Best Is Yet To Be
Romantic Getaway — That’s Not
Too Far Away
By MARSHA BROWN
BROCK-ISH — One of the dreamiest romantic getaways
I’ve found, a retreat that’s perfect for a long weekend or
even a honeymoon (first, second or tenth), is the perfect
escape from deadlines, payroll reports and office stress.
Best of all, it’s just a 15-minute drive southwest from
Weatherford.
Run away together to the Double F River Ranch and
experience the rustic romance of staying on a century-old,
still-working cattle ranch, that’s been in the same family
for 50 years.
You can get a room in the vintage farmhouse or
choose “The Tent.”
We fell in love with “The Tent,” an Out of Africa-style
safari tent, called the Sundancer on the Brazos.
What’s more romantic than roughing it in the wild?
Roughing it in a tent is more fun when the tent is fully
climate-controlled like this one (OK. The romantic part
of, “romantic get-a-away,” tends to go away when you’re
sweltering or freezing your fingers off. I’m a writer. I need

all my fingers. It also has a luxurious bath, a small kitchen
(it’s perfect, small enough to make great coffee and heat
up hors d’oeuvres, but not so big that anyone will expect
any real cooking from you), a wood-fired hot tub and all
the comforts of home with none of the responsibilities or
distractions.
Although the ranch sits on 350 acres, you’re within
10 minutes of great golfing (Sugar Tree and Canyon West
are just a few minutes away), some very interesting shops
(Like Teskey’s Saddlery, Silverado, Step Back ‘N Time) and
amazing restaurants (The Sundance Club at Canyon West,
Vintage Grill & Car Museum, Justice Burger, Baker’s Ribs
and Fire Oak Grill).
Go fishing together, hike, go tubing, race a radio-
controlled boat on Comanche Creek, soak in a wood-fired
hot tub or just relax with your sweetheart
