“They were calling her
names,” Prince said. “It was
frustrating for me, but I learned
that she could take care of
herself. That’s the time when
you have to ask yourself, ‘What
would Jesus do?’ … I just had
to take a deep breath and
know that she can walk away
with her head held high.”
The mudslinging has always
been the hardest part for Gail

he’d go into politics. “He
was with the U.S. Marshal’s
Service,” she said, adding that
she worked for a C.P.A firm. “I
thought that he’d retire and I’d
retire and we would spend the
rest of our lives together travel-
ing and having lots of fun.”
They both did retire, then
he decided that he wanted
to run for the office of Parker
County Sheriff. During his first
campaign, there was a lot of
ugliness and mud slinging.
“It was very difficult,” Gail
said. “You can’t address it.
I would be a fool to answer
them back. I think that some-
times it’s harder for the family
to hear that stuff said about
their loved one than for the
candidate to hear it. Larry has
