PCT: How long have you been
a realtor?
JD: More than 40 years. I started with my father.
PCT: How did you get your
company to where it is?
JD: Really you should talk to
my daughter, Ashley DuncanConlon. She’s the one that
brought our company to the
status we have today. She made
us the number one Century 21
office in the Dallas-Fort Worth
area.
PCT: What is your secret to
success?
JD: It’s not really a secret, but
just get up and go to work. The
one step to success is just to
show up. But now it’s not so
simple since we have Internet.
Now you can work from your
car, home, or wherever.
PCT: Do you plan on retiring
any time soon?
JD: As long as I can get up and
go I’m going. You know, like
when I’m at Lions Club. I take
down 15 to 20 referrals. That’s
the greatest compliment you
can give someone.
PCT: What area do you specialize in?
JD: I do a little bit of everything. I don’t really differentiate. But I grew up here and
back then you couldn’t just
specialize in one area because
things always pick up. I’ve
done more units on the residential side. Commercial contract
is more specific on time. You
have to have everything on
certain dates. I have a lot of my
accounts because of the relationships I make.
PCT: What advice can you give
others?
JD: Well, old realtors never die
they get listless. That’s the key
to it, having a listing on the
property, you know, customers who list with us and stay
with us until it’s time to go. We
put them on websites like Blue
Book, magazines. Making sure
you’re out there. Cross your t’s
and dot your i’s.
