PCT : What is something people don ’ t know about you ? LJ : When I was young , I wanted to be a hairstylist . I cut my Barbie ’ s hair as a little girl , and I cut and styled hair for my friends in high school and college . Oddly enough , my older daughter is the stylist in the family now and she , my other daughter and I own a salon in Fort Worth .
PCT : What would you most like to be remembered for ? LJ : Having had the opportunity to touch children ’ s lives in my teaching career and now at the theatre through our education program is most precious to me . I would hope that those many children whom I somehow influenced in a positive way will remember me as a person in their lives who cared about their education and future .
PCT : If you could have lunch with any one , either living or dead from history , who would it be ?
LJ : I would have loved to have had lunch with Diana , Princess of Wales , or Jacqueline Kennedy , as they were beautiful , stylish , and seemed to be the ultimate ladies . I admired Princess Diana for her charitable work and Mrs . Kennedy for her emphasis on the arts .
PCT : If you had to do another job than what you ’ re doing , what would you do ? LJ : Even though I wear many hats even in retirement , I would love to work in an antique store to enjoy treasures from the past .
PCT : What is your impact to Parker County ? LJ : The majority of my years as an educator in Parker County was spent in a kindergarten classroom , where I taught MANY little ones and piloted many new programs ( the Texas Commissioner of Education even came to my classroom to view a new computer program one year ). I would hope that these years made a slight impact on some of Parker County ’ s folks . I see former students all of the time . My husband always says , “ I can ’ t take you anywhere !” These days , I hope that through my efforts at Theatre Off The Square , our community is a better place by the increased awareness of the art of live theatre and the education of our young folks in fine arts .
PCT : What is your definition of the best day ever ? LJ : The best day ever is to spend time with my family : my husband Wally ; my two grown daughters , Jessica and Jaclyn ; their husbands , Sean and Brad ; and my granddaughter Mallory . It doesn ’ t matter what the occasion might be , we just have fun together and enjoy each other ’ s company .
PCT : What ’ s the best piece of advice you would give ? LJ : Be true to yourself . Live your life in a way that makes you happy and use your best attributes in a positive way to improve your life and others .
