Immunization Requirements:
North Carolina law requires all children in the state to receive certain
immunizations for entry into a North Carolina Public School. Kindergarten
and 7th Grade both have immunization requirements specific for school
attendance. Proof of vaccinations should be presented on or before the first
day of school.
Kindergarten - Students enrolling in Kindergarten for the first
time must present proof of compliance with all required vaccinations
on or before the first day of attendance.
7th Grade - Students entering 7th grade will be required to have
one dose each of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and
meningococcal vaccines if they have not previously received
these vaccines. Proof of these should be submitted to the school.
Talk with your child’s health care provider or the local health department
about vaccines needed for school entry. This is a great chance to get your
child to the doctor for a yearly health care visit.

Physical Exam and Immunization clinics
Avoid the stress of not being able to get your child a Physical and/or the
Required Vaccinations in a timely manner and being placed out of school
by scheduling appointments now.
Rowan County Health Department began scheduling physical exam
appointments June 1, 2017 for children entering school for the first time in
North Carolina. Required immunizations may be received during their physical
exam. To schedule a physical exam appointment call 704-216-8782.
NC state law requires that every child who enrolls in a NC public school
for the first time (into any grade level) provide proof of a recent health
assessment. The assessment must have occurred within the 12 months
prior to entering school. A completed health assessment transmittal form is
to be presented to the school of enrollment on or before the child's first day
of attendance.
Contact your child’s healthcare provider or the Rowan County Health
Department to make an appointment. Students not in compliance with
immunization and/or health assessment requirements must be excluded
from school as required by NC state law, until proof of compliance is
presented.
For parents that are unable to schedule physical exam appointments now,
appointments may be made for September as follows:
Tuesday, September 12th – 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 23rd – 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 26th – 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. -6:30 p.m.
If your child has already been attending school in North Carolina and needs
only immunizations, immunization appointments may be scheduled now also.

For parents that are unable to schedule immunization appointments now,
walk-in clinics for school immunizations will be held in September as follows:
Monday, September 25th - 8:00 a.m. -12 noon and 1:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 26th - 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 pm
Wednesday, September 27th - 8:00 a.m.-12 noon and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 28th - 8:00 a.m.-12 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Remember that walk-in clinics are first come, first serve and there may be a
wait if large numbers needing immunizations arrive at the same time.
