Summer Camp at Horizons Unlimited
Our unique STEM center, Horizons Unlimited, leads by their mission of
"Empowering our communities to explore science and the natural world.” This
summer there were many opportunities for students to do just that!
Numerous camps were available for students of all ages to attend and
explore over the summer months such as:
n Culinary Camps where
students learned the basics
of food safety, baking, knife
skills, and planning meals
all while having a BLAST
while working with the
experts of Rowan-Salisbury
Schools Food Service
department and local
restaurateurs.
n Advanced Coding Camp
where students learned
how to create computer
programs and to dive deep
into the language that they
use daily with their cell phone and computers. Students worked with drones,
robots and game design.
n Creative Arts in the Community where students explored the community
through the lens of the creative arts. Students integrated visual arts and
writing, enjoyed field trips in our local community, and learned the basics of
photography.
n Art Exploration Camp where students explored painting, sculpting and
mixed media. They learned various techniques for painting, new ways to
create images, and enjoyed a field trip to a NC art gallery.
n Out and About Season 3 continu ed with the ecology camp theme. Students
explored the outdoors with active movement, art, and a brand-new touch
tank!
