Reminds Teachers that Students are Why We Do What We Do!
RSS CTE (Career & Technical Education) teachers participated in a team building exercise in August prior to students
returning to school to begin the new school year.
Bike-Building Exercise
Teachers divided into teams of 4-5 and each team built a bike with, not only no instructions, there were also missing or
incorrect parts in each box. This exercise teaches the importance of working together with individual groups, and it also
teaches the importance of working with the group at large in order to get all the parts needed to accomplish the task.
Powerful Conclusion
At the end of the exercise, and the most powerful part of this project and unknown to the participants, was the announcement that deserving 4th or 5th
grade students from Koontz Elementary would be arriving to receive thei r assembled bike. This illustrates that behind all we do, should always be our
students. It was a powerful moment for everyone involved and present.
SPONSORS
There were several sponsors for this event, including the platinum sponsor, Daimler Trucks. Other sponsors were the Barr Family and F&M Bank.
The event took place at the Wallace Educational Forum.
