A Busy Week Preparing For Students to Return
Open Houses, Back-to-School Teacher Conference and the District Pep Rally
The week before students retuned to school from the summer break was
a busy, exhausting and exciting time in the Rowan-Salisbury Schools.
In addition to Open Houses at all schools, teachers had the opportunity
to attend a teacher conference offering variety of topics from Literacy,
ACHIEVE3000, Digital learning, Customer Service, and to hear a Keynote
from our Superintendent with a challenge to “work on the work.” and
a special presentation from Discovery Education. All in all there were
approximately 400 sessions with 1600 educators attending. Students also
participated and collected donated items for service providers to help those in
need!
All Rowan-Salisbury staff attending an energized Pep Rally held at the
Catawba College Goodman Gym led by Superintendent Dr. Moody and the
Board of Education. The NRHS JROTC presented the Colors; Lark Staley,
student at Cleveland Elementary and Erwin Middle student Olivia Kesler
performed the National Anthem; the JCHS provided the Jazz Band; and all
middle and high school cheerleaders welcomed the staff!
Community businesses provided approximately $40,000 in amazing gifts
for staff that included:

Carson’s Abby Cozart is State FFA Winner
Jesse Carson High School’s Abby Cozart placed first at the annual
NC State FFA Convention in the Job Interview Career Development event
held in June in downtown Raleigh.
Previously Abby placed first in
the regional event that was held in
early May and led her to the state
competition. Abby will compete at the
National FFA Convention in October.
