Dare To Imagine Award – Jchs Student
Isabella Almazan
Congratulations to Jesse Carson
High student Isabella Almazan for
being the recipient of this year’s
‘Dare to Imagine Award’ through
Waterworks Visual Arts Center.
The Dare to Imagine award is made
possible through a gift from local art
patrons Susan and Edward Norvell.
This special award is presented
annually to one Rowan County
graduating senior whose artwork
most exemplifies the creative
potential of the human spirit, heart,
and hand. This award bears a
$1,000 scholarship, custom framing,
and a summer solo exhibition of
selected works at Waterworks.
Thank you to all our Rowan County
seniors who submitted their
portfolios for the 2019 Dare To
Imagine Award. Student portfolios
are reviewed by a panel of jurors in a blind
judging process in five categories:
n Artistic Sensitivity
n Skill and Technique
n Originality
n Composition
n Overall Quality and Presentation.
Isabella’s work exhibited the strongest
overall quality, skill, technique and
composition. One juror noted, “this body
of work is very professionally executed and
presented! Shows thoughtful expression of
feeling as well as technical skill.”
The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education recognized Isabella at their business
meeting during Celebrations, with Anne Scott Clement, Executive Director for
Waterworks Visual Arts Center assisting with the presentation. Isabella will
be recognized and presented with her award and check during the opening
reception of summer exhibitions on Friday, May 31, 6-8 pm at Waterworks.
SchoolLinks : A Career and College Readiness
Platform
Rowan-Salisbury Schools strives to prepare all students to obtain their
personal life goals.
Part of this preparation is helping students to discover their passions, explore
opportunities, and plan for their future. We are excited to provide a new tool,
SchooLinks, to all middle and high school students to assist them to navigate
this process.
Students will discover and showcase their strengths through career and
interest surveys, explore options for careers in the military, or careers
that require a 2-year or 4-year degree, find college scholarships, take
college tours, develop a plan to become career and college ready and meet
individual life goals.
