Salisbury High Girls Tennis State Champions
East Rowan High Students Receive Honors
Congratulations to the following East Rowan High band and chorus students who were recognized and honored at the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education meeting for their achievements .
ERHS band student Madison Lovingood was selected to be a member of the U . S . Army All-American Marching Band . Madison will perform at the US Army All-American Football Bowl Game in San Antonio , Texas .
ERHS band student Melinda Thompson was accepted to both the Carnegie Hall High School Honors Performance Series Honor Band and the Sydney Opera House Honor Band in Australia .
Congratulations to the Salisbury High School Girls Tennis Team for capturing the State 2A Championship . The coach is Milton Griffith and team members are as follows :

Choir students auditioned from all 50 states , Canada , China , New Zealand , and the United Kingdom for the National Honors Choir at Carnegie Hall in NYC . The following ERHS students have been selected for this honor :

The ERHS band teacher is Emily McNeil , and the ERHS chorus teacher is Dean Orbison .

• Capito and Honeycutt were named to the NCHSAA All State team this year
• Capito , Honeycutt , Nianouris , Rusher and Stauffer were named to the NCHSAA 2A Midwest Regional Team
• Capito , Honeycutt , Nianouris , Rusher , Burton and Stauffer were named to the All Central Carolina Conference team
• Maria Capito was named Central Carolina Conference Player of the Year
The SHS Girls Tennis Team finished with a 24-1 overall record for the season and were ranked the # 1 2A Girls tennis team in the State .
Superintendent Dr . Lynn Moody Receives The Friday Medal
Dr . Lynn Moody is one of seven ( 7 ) superintendents
from across the state to receive the prestigious Friday Medal . This award was presented to innovative superintendents in NC rural districts by the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation and the NC School Superintendents Association during a special ceremony earlier in November .
The Friday Medal is named in recognition of Bill and Ida Friday for their commitment to educational excellence and for embracing digital learning and digital leadership . Digital learning is an instructional practice that effectively uses technology to strengthen a student ’ s learning experience .
The seven superintendents receiving this honor are as follows :
Through recent years , Rowan-Salisbury has been recognized at the state and national levels as a leader in technology and innovative practices for student success . The district has been ranked in the Top 10 nationally for pioneering technology uses ; received the national digital curriculum strategy award and the national digital content & curriculum achievement award . In addition , Discovery Education presented Dr . Moody with the ‘ Innovation in Education ’ award . On a state level under Dr . Moody ’ s leadership team , the district has been recognized for excellence in educational programs as well as excellence in communication , public relations , and marketing .
