SERVICE ABOVE SELF ’ YOUTH AWARDS
The annual " Service Above Self " Youth Awards ceremony was held in December in the Keppel Auditorium at Catawba College . Over 2,000 Rowan-Salisbury students were recognized for contributing over 28,000 volunteer hours of service to others in our community . This is service given by our children without being required to do so - they just simply give because this is what they do . Now that is extraordinary !

As an added treat , attendees were once again treated to being entertained from the Knox Middle School Jazz Band . This year there were added solo vocals singing along with the band . The audience was delighted to be entertained by the students with the lively holiday music prior to the ceremony .
Although first , second and third place winners in individual and group entries are announced -All Students Are Winners And Honored ! Each student had the opportunity to :
* Walk Across the Catawba College Stage * Receive a Framed Certificate * Shake Hands with the Superintendent and City Mayor * Have a Photo Taken with Santa !
