held at the Music Educator Conference in Winston-Salem.
These students experienced a rigorous audition process, where
175 students were selected from approximately 2000 auditions. Both South Rowan and East Rowan high schools have

State Board of Education
8 • Jan/Feb 2015 • Parent Teacher Magazine
In December, two Jesse
Carson High School students
from Mrs. Kirkpatrick’s World
History class addressed the
NC State Board of Education.
Lynea Casper and Faith
Morris were invited to speak
on the collaboration with
India through The Center for
International Understanding.
The students presented the
Prezi they made on global
poverty and discussed
what they gained from the
collaboration experience. The
students were able to meet
the school board members
and State Superintendent
June Atkinson. This was an
excellent opportunity and honor for students.
