Message from Superintendent Dr. Barry Shepherd, Ed.D.

Happy New Year Greetings, everyone!
It’s a brand new year full of promise and possibility. Let’s all resolve to be involved and engaged in our
roles – parents, students, staff, and community members.
In this issue, we are celebrating many successes, including several grants awarded to schools to
implement innovative programs and recognition for students and staff members for their excellence. We
also shine the spotlight on our students’ giving spirit and community service.
We’re also sharing seasonal information as a reminder about school delays and cancellations. Please
take a few minutes to review our inclement weather procedures included in this issue. Our primary goal is
to ensure the safety of our students and staff, so as we are making decisions about delaying or cancelling
school, we always err on the side of caution. You also can find this information on our district website.
We also encourage you to stay healthy in an effort to minimize your chances of flu. Encourage your
children to practice healthy hygiene. Frequent hand washing with soap and water and covering coughs and
sneezes are keys to minimizing the spread of flu germs. As the old adage goes…an ou
