School Nutrition Program 2017-2018
MAKING MEAL SELECTIONS
Breakfast
The School Nutrition Program offers a complete breakfast which includes a
grain and/or protein, milk, juice and ½ cup fruit. A child can refuse one of
these components but must take a fruit or juice and it will remain a qualifying
USDA breakfast; however, the cost will be the same. If a child chooses
individual items, there will be an a la carte charge. Fees for online payments include:
Transaction fee (required): $1.95 processing fee for each online transaction.
Optional premium membership has a one-time cost of $10.00 per family, and
includes the ability to check the child’s account balance and meal history, as
well as receive alerts when the balance is low. Parents who are already active
with Premium accounts will not need to pay again.
Regular Lunch
A USDA qualifying lunch includes items from each of the 5 food groups:
Protein, Grain, Vegetable, Fruit and Milk. Children must take 3 of the 5 food
groups and 1 of those chosen foods much be a ½ cup fruit or vegetable
choice to be a complete USDA qualifying meal. If a child chooses only 3 or 4
of the required food groups, there is no change in cost. Please note at times
1 to 2 food groups (components) are combined in one food item. Children
cannot substitute one food group for another. Salad Bars are offered at all
grade levels daily. For high school and middle school we offer a “Quick Bite”
and “Healthy Cart” meal option which are also a USDA qualifying meal. For more detailed instructions and more information

Cabarrus County Schools School Nutrition will provide food substitutions
for any child who qualifies as “disabled” under ADA, Section 504, or IDEA.

after July 1st of each school year or within thirty (30) days of enrollment.
Services may be discontinued without a new Diet Order after this date. A

CAFETERIA ACCOUNT PREPAYMENTS
It is a convenience for parents and cafeteria staff when parents make

nationwide, increasing fiscal responsibility by partnering with CHECKredi
(Money Transfer Systems). CHECKredi utilizes the federal and state law
guidelines to provi de an efficient method of electronically recovering the NSF
(Non-Sufficient Funded) checks.
P ayments made online (at www.lunchprepay.com) require the following
information: The child’s identification number. This can be found on the
child’s bus pass, on middle or high school class schedules, or by contacting
the school office or teacher. Personal email accounts to receive confirmations
after payments are processed.
