CMHS Employee Honored who strives to bring more time , hope and adventure to those whose lives they touch . Through a nomination process , the award is given to someone who goes above and beyond , or “ to the moon and back ,” to provide care with the utmost compassion , respect , and focus on quality of life .
Mr . Wallace supports CMHS student Jeremy Hawkins whose parents submitted the nomination . Jeremy and Mr . Wallace have formed a bond that has taken them on many adventures together--from local band performances to class trip travels out of state . “ Wallace ” ( as Jeremy calls him ) said , “ The Hawkins Family has been nothing short of a blessing in my life . From the first time I met them until present day , I count it all joy ! Their selfless service has strengthened me at times , when my goal was to strengthen them . Jeremy ’ s infectious smile , laughter and determination deserve nothing but the fullest of my attention .” Mr . Wallace will receive an official glass “ mooncatcher ” award along with a letter , certificate of recognition and a $ 500 Visa gift card .

Jeffrey Wallace , physical needs assistant at Cox Mill High School , was recently selected as the recipient of the Ethan ’ s Reason 5th Annual Moonbeam Caregiver Award ! This award is presented annually to a special caregiver of individuals with Batten Disease or Rare Disease who exemplifies “ a shining example of caring and compassion ” and
CCS Hosts Annual ESL Summer Enrichment Program
The CCS ESL / Title III Department hosted its 3rd Annual ESL Summer Enrichment Program at Concord High School in June .
The two-week program offered academic support to middle and high school students that are new to the United States and to students classified as SIFE ( Students with Interrupted Formal Education ). Twenty-one students attended the program representing ten different countries .
Now , with new badges and Journeys in science , technology , engineering , and math ( STEM ), the outdoors , life skills and beyond , there are even more opportunities to build her confidence and prepare her for the lifetime of success , and adventure she deserves — all in a safe , no-limits place designed by and for every girl .

The Title III / ESL Department seeks to improve educational success by strengthening student ’ s academic English language skills . Students experienced learning centers based on the WIDA ELD Standards with a career-ready capstone project component . The capstone project allowed students to practice the strategies learned during the program by giving a presentation to their small groups . On the final day , students celebrated their language accomplishments and had the opportunity to listen to a panel of bilingual community representatives that shared their education and career experiences as former English Language Learners .
