CCS Gifted Department is GLEEful
The Cabarrus County Schools Gifted Department recently held their GLEE Kick-Off meetings for elementary , middle and high school participants . GLEE , which stands for Gifted Local Endorsement for Educators , is a year-long course that offers local training to classroom teachers who work with gifted learners . This program provides a basic understanding of gifted learners , their characteristics and social-emotional needs . It also promotes the implementation of differentiated content and learning strategies for our advanced learners .
GLEE course participants have grown from 40 local teachers last year to approximately 75 elementary teachers , 50 middle school teachers and 50 high school teachers throughout the district this school year . This movement in our district ’ s AIG program will provide more opportunities for conversation and vertical planning related to gifted learners among teachers at all levels of education .
