Students
Selected for
Governor’s
School
Fifteen CCS high
school students have
been selected to
attend the Governor’s
School of North
Carolina, the oldest
statewide summer
residential program
for academically or
intellectually gifted
high school students in
the nation.
Students will spend
five and one-half
weeks at one of two
program locations
– East Campus at
Meredith College
in Raleigh or West
Campus at High Point
University in High
Point – where they will
integrate academic
disciplines, the arts
and unique courses.
Criteria for selection
included grades,
aptitude and
achievement test
scores and teacher
recommendations.
Students in the
performing/visual
arts were required to
audition. Nominations
were submitted to the
N.C. Department of
Public Instruction, and
a statewide committee
made the selections.
CCS Launches Mobile App
The Communications & Public Information Department launched a new mobile app for the district
in March. The app is available in the online iTunes® and Google Play® app stores for free –
simply search CabCoSchools. The mobile app will offer a constantly updated feed of district news
and events with photos and links to the district’s website and social media sites. Users also can
customize the app by selecting their preferred schools to receive news and updates. Users also
can choose to receive push notifications about items such as breaking news, updates about school
closures, and calendar changes.
The app represents another way for parents, students and the community to connect with Cabarrus
County Schools and to follow the district’s news and happenings. It will not replace any existing communications channels.
