CHS Teachers Present at Conferences
A pair of teachers at Concord High School recently
presented at separate conferences.
Concord High School Teacher Alison Stanford Turner,
advisor for the Spider Web yearbook, presented at the
Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) 90th Annual
Spring Scholastic Convention held at Columbia University in
New York City, March 18-21. Turner was invited to attend as
speaker after the 2013 Spider Web yearbook earned a Gold
Medal earlier this year.

faculty advisors to newspapers, yearbooks, magazines,
video productions and online media.
CSPA is an international student press association,
founded in 1925, whose goal is to unite student journalists
and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through
educational conferences, idea exchanges, textbooks,
critiques and award programs.
Turner has been teaching English for 23 years and
advising the Spider Web for nine years. She has taught
the last nine years at Concord High School, where she also
serves as English Department Chair and co-advisor to the
OPUS literary magazine.
The Spider Web has won numerous awards at state
and national level. State awards from the North Carolina
Alison
Scholastic Media Association are received annually for
excellence in design, photography, writing and coverage.
