Lifestyle Guidelines
We believe that water baptism for the believer and the Lord’ s Supper for the believer( communion) are ordinances to be observed by the church. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation. Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:23.
We believe the true Church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been born anew by the Holy Spirit and are united in the body of Christ of which He is the Head. I Corinthians 12:12-14.
We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this blessed hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. I Thessalonians 4:13-18.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the impenitent to judgment and everlasting punishment. I Corinthians 15: 51-54.
Lifestyle Guidelines
The school’ s Lifestyle Guidelines reflect the mission of The Cornerstone Christian School, the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene, the school’ s Statement of Faith, and the collective wisdom of the conservative evangelical churches that are a part of the school’ s constituency. The premise of Cornerstone’ s lifestyle guidelines is to exemplify such personal, moral, and religious conduct as shall be above reproach. This lifestyle premise is for all faculty, staff and administrative personnel on our campus. This lifestyle premise also provides the rationale for modeling, instructing, and upholding desirable behavior and attitudes for all of our constituencies.
Background We, as a Christian community, commit ourselves to the admonition of the Apostle Paul that we build our community up in love for each other. We will actively endeavor to be supportive and caring for each other in spite of whatever differences may develop concerning the operation of the school. While honest differences may exist and be vigorously debated, the school will not condone personal attacks on other members of the community.
Prohibited Lifestyle Practices To be in accord with the purposes, doctrines, standards and spirit of the Cornerstone Christian School, our lifestyle practices prohibit: engaging in sexual acts outside of Christian marriage as defined by the Church of the Nazarene; the use of pornography; any acts of abuse, bullying or harassment; the use of profanity; gambling; theft; dishonesty; using tobacco in any form; vaping; participation in the occult; and any other behavior that is detrimental to authentic Christian community and the maintenance of an atmosphere conducive to abundant life.
The school prohibits the possession, use, distribution or manufacture of illegal drugs and recreational marijuana, vaping, and the misuse of prescription drugs.
