The Day to Day // Lamplighters Yeshivah Parent Handbook
EG1( Lower Girls, 1st through 3rd grade)
Just like last year, EG1 will be at the Lincoln Place / Brooklyn classroom. Morning drop-off is at 9am at the side door on Lincoln Place. If you are arriving by car, please pull up traveling east on Lincoln Place for the drop-off( not on Brooklyn). Dismissal at 3:30pm will be by way of the same Lincoln Place door. All car pickups should be conducted on Lincoln Place.
EG2( Upper Girls, 4th grade)
This year, due to our expanding girls elementary, EG2 students will have their own classroom at the main building with a separate entrance straight into their room from the back of the building. Morning drop-off is at 9am through the side gate on Brooklyn. Girls will proceed directly to the basement entrance. Dismissal at 3:30pm will occur by way of the front yard driveway gate.
EB1 and EB2( Lower Boys, 1st through 3rd grade)
All morning drop-offs at 9am will occur through the front doors of the building. At 3:30 dismissal, we ask that all parents wait outside the white gates. Children will proceed out the front door and sit on our brand new black benches, designed to create a more organized dismissal. One at a time, teachers will escort children to you through the gate.
EB4( Upper Boys, 4th grade plus)
All morning drop-offs will occur through the front doors of the building at 9am. There is a great chance that this time will move up to 8:45am after Sukkos. EB4 will be dismissed out of the Brooklyn Avenue gate at 4 pm.
2) We ask parents not to enter the school building to retrieve their children, as this blocks students from coming out quickly and seeing their parent / cars when they do exit the area. We know that there are times where you want to visit us- if you need to talk to someone in the office, please do so before dismissal time!
4) Please be on time for pick-up. There are many moving parts to make the dismissal orderly; therefore, all students who are not picked up within ten minutes of dismissal times will be escorted to the office. You will then need to park and enter the building to conduct pick-up. In addition, your child anxiously anticipates your arrival at pick-up. You MUST call the school if you are going to be later than usual. Please do not contact your child’ s teacher-- contact the office directly. Dismissal times directly affects the staffing of the school; therefore, late fees may be charged for picking up your child after dismissal time.
5) At the gate there will be a staff member available to escort your child / ren to your car. As this is a heavy traffic zone, if your child is not out yet and there is not a space at the curb, we ask you please circle the block to ensure a smooth and efficient system and not block traffic. Once your child has been handed off to you, staff members will no longer be watching him / her; therefore, we request that all dismissed students stay outside the gates.
6) Dismissal from school is supervised by multiple school staff for both carpool and walk / pick up. Because of dismissal responsibilities, teachers will not be available to converse at this time. If you do would like to speak to a teacher, please request a conference time or leave a message( via phone or email) and the teacher will respond as soon as possible.
NOTES:
1) Dismissal takes place for 15 minutes after class ends. Following this, children will remain by the front office and parents will be required to park, enter and pick up the child from the office.
