In Case of Emergency at Camp
For the safety of your child, complete all requested information forms in full detail. Be sure to provide your daytime phone numbers and the names and phone numbers of your emergency contacts in the event we are unable to reach you.
All staff are trained in first aid and child CPR. Each day camp staff are required to check their area for safety concerns. If equipment is found to be broken or unsafe it will be removed from the camp site and repaired or replaced. If a minor injury or accident occurs while at camp, you will receive a verbal report from the camp director indicating what happened and what was done to address the situation. Minor injuries such as a scrape or insect bite will be washed with soap and water. Band-Aids or gauze may be applied when necessary.
If your child is injured during camp and requires more than basic first aid, the following steps will be taken:
• Paramedics will be called
• Parents will be notified of the situation
• If necessary, the injured child will be transported by paramedics and accompanied by a camp staff member to the nearest hospital
Toilet Training
The Glenview Park District required that your child be toilet trained and be able to use the toilet unassisted by the start of camp, with the exception of the Firstview Program. To avoid accidents with our preschool aged campers, our staff will do their best to take frequent bathroom breaks.
If there is an accident, you will be contacted immediately to bring a change of clothes. Ongoing accidents will result in the child being removed for the remainder of the camp. Glenview Park District staff are not able to change diapers or pull-ups. Please do not send your child in diapers or pull-ups. If this occurs, we will contact you to assist or pick up your child.
Inclement Weather
Camp sessions will run regardless of weather conditions, ensuring an enjoyable experience rain or shine. Our staff is well-prepared with a variety of activities suitable for both rainy days and hot weather. Although our fieldhouses are not air-conditioned, recent updates have enhanced insulation, keeping them cooler during the summer. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances preventing pool usage, alternative activities such as field trips or special events will be arranged. Please note that refunds will not be issued in such instances.
