P.A.R.C. Mag Issue #7 | Page 27

P.A.R.C. Mag: Who inspired you to do your own blog regarding hip-hop culture?

Phil: "That happened naturally, I was a hip-hop artist before Cisetv & Phatflavaz, so that was a no-brainer to eventually start a hip hop blog site when I came on this side of the game. I love music from hip-hop, neo-soul, reggae, jazz, and alternative. I just want to be around it as much as possible. I'm like Taye Diggs in that movie Brown Sugar lol."

P.A.R.C. Mag: Within the Hip-Hop Community, what would you say is of the most concern? What do you think about these new age rappers compared to old school rappers?

Phil: "I got love for these new cats, but I'm committed to that underground sound, I think my concern is how microwaved music is nowadays. You might get two weeks to love a song or project then you're on to the next hot sound on the radio. I always find myself going back to artists first albums like the Illmatic, reasonable Doubts, Only built For Cuban Links, Mobb Deeps etc., to get that feeling again."

P.A.R.C. Mag: Where do you envision your blog to go in the next five years?

Phil: "It will eventually evolve with original content on artists through media and online radio to drive revenue and remain as one of the most consistent hip-hop sites on the internet."

P.A.R.C. Mag: If you could do a collaboration with any celebrity artist who would it be and why?

Phil: "That would be Nas. He’s a wise and dope lyricist. I respect the business moves he’s been doing and the whole Mass Appeal movement, I would love to do an interview with the brother."
