THE

YETI

Most people have heard about the Yeti, also referred to as "Abominable Snowman" This creature is very familiar among cryptid enthuiasts. Explorations in pursuit of this creature have been recorded back as early as B.C times. There are actually two popular discriptions regarding what the Yeti look like. The Sherpa people, immigrants from Tibet residing in Eastern Nepal, call the first description "Dzu-teh". This description is of a 7 to 8 foot tall creature while the other, the "Meh-teh", is only 5 to 6 feet tall. Some say that the Yeti has brown hair while others report white hair that blends in with the snow. The creature has been also been reported to weigh from 200 to 400 lbs with large teeth. Although the accounts slightly differ, it is not unnatural to see a single species range in size and color.

Tracking down this creature has proven quite difficult. Not only does the legend live in the high altitiudes of the Himalayan Mountains, but some believe that they will only show themselves to those who believe. Lepcha people, an indigenous people living in the Indian state of Sikkim, worshiped the Yeti as a "Glacier Being" or a God of the Hunt.

If you are interested in joining the search for the Yeti, consider booking a flight on Yeti Airlines, an airline established in Kathmandu, Nepal. You may even stay at one of the many hotels named after the creature such as the Yak and Yeti Hotel. If your travels leave you feeling a little empty handed due to lack of evidence you can always go during the winter months and treat yourself to the Dumchi and Mani Rimdu festivals where you are bound to see someone dressed as the one and only Yeti.
