I could guarantee that almost everyone has heard of Amityville, but how many people know of the true terror that the Lutzes endured in their 28 day stay at this horrific building? Lets just put it this way, the criteria didn't meet their High Hopes.

On Friday, December 10th 1975, George, Kathleen, Daniel, Christopher and Missy Lutz moved in to their new "dream home". But, the home has a history, a dark one, because, only a year earlier the rooms of 112 Ocean Avenue echoed the gun shots of Ronald DeFeo Jr, as he slaughtered his mother, father and four brothers and sisters. I guess that explains why they could afford the house at a bargain price of $80,000 including the DeFeo's furniture. On the first day of moving in, inexplicable phenomena was rife as thousands of flies had invaded the upstairs play room. During the Lutz's four week stay they witnessed things such as foul smells, windows and doors opening and closing of their own accord, levitations and also a plethora poltergiestal activity occurred. The garage door was a party trick that the "entity" liked to pull in which it would control the garage doors to uncontrollably flip up and down.

According to key eye witnesses of the family's torment, say "men were infested with violent reactions, whilst women were charmed with the house and overcome with a feeling of lassitude".

Edward and Lorraine Warren were called in to investigate and they caught the only picture ever taken of what may have resided at 112 Ocean Avenue.
