INTRODUCTION
In this project the main objective is to not only show how to solve quadratic equations by general formula and graphing method, but also to understand what the result of each mean and be able to understand why is the result the way it is. In this magazine we will compare the two main methods to solve quadratic equations by solving one example problem and showing the procedure. The example equation is -x squared plus 2x plus 8 yields 0. One of the main focuses of the project are parabolas, which are everywhere in our daily life. It is therefore crucial to understand the uses of parabolas in our daily life and it is also very important to be able to analyze a parabola in the graphing method of quadratic equations.
To prepare for this project I, Carlos Colchero, have been preparing for more or less over two months to not only know how to solve this operations, but also to understand how I got to the result. To prove parabolas are around us, I decided to head for an adventure, and seek for parabolas around me. In the first ten minutes I had already found four parabolas that are clear enough to be used as examples later. So this brings us to the main question, what applications does the use of parabola have in our daily life?, which will be answered ahead of course.
