PARTICIPATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY
In order to achieve long-lasting results in your organization,
you must hold all leaders and employees accountable
for measurable results. This is true at all levels of the
organization.
Accountability begins with clear objectives, measurement,
performance management, and is reinforced with
appropriate rewards and/or recognition. It is important
that low performers are not rewarded, but instead
coached, re-trained, and/or disciplined if necessary.
Your organizational success is dependent on a culture
of accountability.
Common Accountability Mistakes
Leaders Make
• Not clearly communicating
expectations.
• Failing to set clear measurements and
targets for success.
• Focusing on the data and not guiding
specific actions.
• Tolerating excuses for improvement
barriers.
• Failing to coach toward the
desired results - celebrations and
confrontations.
SUMMARY
Goal Setting is a critical activity for any organization and
must include clear communication, alignment, collaboration,
and a strong culture of accountability. The organizations
who dedicate themselves to these elements will find an
engaged workforce that understands what is expected of
them, and why their work is important.
With accurate goals guiding employees to reach their
potential, and journeys that are complimentary (not
competing), the organization has its best chance to
achieve their goals and to build a strong roadmap for
the future.
