The Australian Open presented by Hoyt Archery and Easton Arrows is quickly growing into our countries most prestigious event.
2014 has seen the event come forward in the calendar and move "offshore" to Hobart, Tasmania.
92 Men and women made the pilgrimage to our southern-most capital city, all in search of the elusive title of Australia Open Champion.
Open to recurve and compound shooters, the event began with the Friday as degisnated practice day.
Saturday kicked off with all shooters vying for those all important ranking points. Recurve shooters battle it out over a WA 70/720 round while the compound men and women shot the WA 50/720. The afternoon Team Matchplay eliminations and finals were showed Hobart some of Australia's best talent.
The recurve mens team, consisted of Olympians Taylor Worth and Matthew Gray and newly crowned World Champion, Ryan Tyack. The powerhouse trio took home the Gold medal with 218 to Team Jab's 193.
The women's team of dual Olympian Deonne Bridger, Alice Ingley and Ingrid Brookshaw took a comfortable Gold medal over team AGA scoring 203 to 165.
Cap'n Jack and the Scallywags, of international archers Mike Brosnan, Jack Salmon and Derek Jacobs had a tough fight through eliminations but proved victorious over Team Pat's Archery to take Gold.
The compound womens team category was dominated by the Team Just Us, of Fiona Hyde, Louise Redman and Rachael Morgan. A gold medal match up saw the girls take top honours oover Team Kis by only 10 points.
The individual competition finals were held on the Sunday and run to the same style of format used in the World Cup events.
In the recurve men's category World indoor champion Ryan Tyack claimed gold medal, while Olympian Taylor Worth Silver, and Callum Ingley Bronze.
The womens recurve podium was a familiar sight with the archers from Team WAQ taking all three spots. Alice Ingley claimed the Gold, Deonne Bridger finished with Silver and Bronze awarded to Ingrid Brookshaw.
No stranger to the podium, Robert Timms outshot all his competitors to take the Gold medal while young gun Jack Salmon claimed the Silver and Vegas 300 Shooter, Mike Brosnan took Bronze.
The womens medal matches saw Rachael Morgan recieve Gold, Fiona Hyde the Silver and LIsa Scott the Bronze medal.
A huge thanks must go to Hobart Archers for the amazing effort put in to host the event and 2015 will see the Australian Open to Tasmania.
