Parenting children while taking anything that causes impaired judgement needs serious consideration.

If your child needed an operation that could save their life would you be ok with the surgeon having a session before performing the operation on your loved one? Of course not. Yet every time you decide to drink or use a drug your child's life is directly in your hands. Most days you might get away with it but what if a situation arose where you needed to act and think fast, could you do it? You might think you could but if you wouldn't trust a surgeon in the situation with your childs life in their hands you must consider the impact your abilities to parent effectively could have on any given day while under the influance. This same situation relates to those who you expose your child to. They are having direct contact with your child, you may leave the room for a minute or decide they can baby sit. If they consider having a joint as being ok because it relaxes them they are now responsible to make on the spot choices that impact your child. If your child is in their care would you think it ok for the caregivers to be stoned or drunk while your babies are asleep in their beds or running around the room? How happy would you be with the knowledge that person may be the one to decide to pile the kids in the car and go for a feed? If your child/children were removed because of D&A issues and you still think you were responsible as a parent think long and hard now about those precious children.

As a parent you're responsible for your children 24/7 and although you may think arranging a baby sitter while you go out drinking etc for the night good parenting, you also need to consider the following.

It's harmless, isn't it?
