The problem that seems to exist in society today is that often if a child exhibits what is classed as 'different or strange', the focus then becomes what is the parent doing wrong? It is never questioned what if there are developmental issues causing the behavior?

Having been through this process myself,the feeling of being undermined,hurt,frustrated,not having the answers and the most overwhelming feeling of self doubt as a mother(was I doing the right thing, maybe there was something wrong with my parenting) and feeling like my parenting was now under a microscope.

Professionals who were there to teach my child and who were not qualified to make assessments, did so anyway. It was suggested to me that my child suffered anxiety an needed a psychologist because there

was something going on at home. I was then questioned more by this person. They said they would do a referral for a psychologist.

So I got pro-active and these are my tips to help those not knowing where to turn but their child is put in the 'not normal basket of societyā€¯

1. Make sure you are the one to be seen doing whatever you can for your child/ren(be proactive).

Remember there are parents out there going through

the same thing;YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
