The Importance of Being Ernest
Theres an old saying about being first true to thyself and when it comes to CYFS and other organisations this is of even greater importance. YOU MUST BE HONEST, not only with yourself, but with every one around you. If you are honest, if you tell no lies, there is no need to try to remember the lies.
No one wants to look past what they see in the mirror, to confront the demons within themselves. Many already know deep down they are having problems or a relationship is not going well which is impacting on their children. Few want to admit it because when they do they feel it will be admitting they have been abusive parents, or admitting failure. This is a sad part of why the push to punish abuses has in fact stopped those seeking help, from reaching out and asking. Good parents seek resources and this is what we are saying to you at PANIC. To know what resources you will need, first, we need your complete honesty. We are not here to judge you on your life history, we are not here to place blame on you, we are here to place support around you, we cannot do that when we dont have the truth. It is fully understandable that you dont wish to put the truth out there on the group pages, which is why ALL our support people are available for you to message.
Behaviours that may impact your cases, you are the only one that can change them. Sadly in a very small number of cases the actions of the family themselves has meant we have had to then support the department. If you’re lying to yourself and doing things that could harm the child, or a placing the child at risk, then please do not think we can support such actions. PANIC is not about supporting families blindly, the bottom line is the welfare of the children. We are there to insure your rights and most importantly that the child’s rights are being followed.
Some may consider this supporting CYFS, but this is not what a responsible organisation does. Its the children that matter.
