The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum (219 S. Palm Cyn) inspires people to learn about the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Native cultures through exhibitions, collections, research, and educational programs. It produces the highly regarded Native FilmFest at Camelot Theatres (2300 East Baristo Road) every February. The festival presents the best in films by, about, and starring Native Americans and other Indigenous peoples from around the world. Screenings are followed by informative Q&A sessions with filmmakers, directors, and actors in attendance. The Plaza Theater, which opened its doors in 1936 in the heart of Palm Springs, will see the final curtain call for the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies in late 2014 after 23 years, but the Theater will become a new entertainment venue. The Desert Art Center (550 N. Palm Canyon) is a nonprofit, volunteer art organization committed to stimulating expression and appreciation of visual arts in the community where people of all ages can study, create and exhibit their works.
