PALM SPRINGS EATS: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow Spencer’s Restaurant Las Casuelas Terraza 38 Now that our city has become a culinary Mecca for foodies, new restaurants seem to be taking over most of the available space in town. The freshly renovated Purple Room (1900 E. Palm Cyn) inside Club Trinidad that once was a Frank Sinatra hangout, has opened under the auspices of Tony Marchese and Mark Van Laanen, co-owners of the popular contemporary Trio Restaurant, and features a Continental menu and great music. This being Southern California, you’ll find plenty of excellent Mexican restaurants locally. The Original Las Casuelas (368 N. Palm Cyn) has been owned & operated by the Delgado family since February, 1958. Small and quaint, this timeless landmark continues to share authentic Mexican cuisine of the heritage and flavors of Mazatlan. The newer Las Casuelas Terraza (222 S. Palm Cyn) menu offers classic Mexican dishes and fresh vegetarian plates, and its bar has 75 varieties of Tequila. Terraza’s two leafy patios, live music, delicious food and fresh drinks make this busy place a local favorite. Maracas Mexican Restaurant (155 S. Palm Cyn) emphasizes fresh ingredients and great flavor along with a selection of over 100 Tequilas. The original El Mirasol Cochina Mexicana (140 E.
