The classroom is another area where Blackmon was pleased with his team on the Academic All-District team. The Elks had Walker, Riley Phillips, Ethan Waldon, Rodriguez, Brannigan Blackmon, Cooper, Denney, Franklin, Juan Banuelos, Travis Smith, Garrett Dunaway, Hayden Pittman, Angel Ramirez, Landon Westbrook, Luis Lopez and Peyton Wilson make that team.
“ You don’ t end up missing kids when they take care of things in the classroom,” Blackmon said.“ They also don’ t get pulled for tutorials and missing practice to make up work. Their attendance is good and
we get a lot of intelligent kids that make coaching easier.”
Blackmon said the 2025 season was one he will always cherish as a coach.
“ I was glad this got to be the year that I started. This senior group means a lot because my oldest son is graduating this year,” Blackmon said.“ I am very happy with how they worked and the standard they set with our work ethic. That has been a very happy thought for me with how the underclassmen are falling right in with that dynamic in our athletic program.”
