NECHES RIVER WILDERNESS RACE – KAYAKS Adventure lovers can gear up for the 2026 Neches River Wilderness Challenge Saturday, Aug. 1 for a 22-mile canoe and kayak adventure race between the Lake Palestine Dam and US 79 bridge. The‘ toughest little race in Texas’ has a check in time of 6:30 a. m. for experts and beginners to test their skills in kayaks. The event is held by the Neches River Runners, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation and education which has as its primary activity the organization and staging of the Neches River Wilderness Canoe Race. THIRD SUNDAY STROLL DOWNTOWN Enjoy a Sunday Stroll with local businesses in Historic Downtown Corsicana every third Sunday. Participating shops open their doors for an easygoing afternoon of walking, browsing and exploring what downtown has to offer. It’ s a relaxed way to spend the afternoon
while checking in with local businesses along the way. The Third Sunday Stroll is held from 1 to 4 p. m. every third Sunday, May through December.

About 20 minutes from downtown Jacksonville, you’ ll find more than 60 vendor booths with flea market finds, repurposed and refurbished furniture, antiques, collectibles, handmade crafts, woodwork and jewelry, as well as various product distributors.
