One area that Peoples said they had seen a decline in help with in recent years is the decoration of the porta-potties.
“ When we first started out, we would run out of portapotties for people to decorate, but over the years participation in this has declined,” she said.
There is no sponsorship fee to decorate a porta-potty. The only requirement is to purchase your decorations and show up early on the day of the race to decorate your porta-potty. All porta-potties have to be decorated and ready before the race begins. The winner receives the Gold Toilet award, also known as the Pooper Prize.
“ Last year we only had a couple of porta-potties that were decorated,” People said.“ We are really encouraging people to participate with this because its’ so much fun and you get to advertise your business for free this way. We are also encouraging school art departments and other organizations to come up with something clever and participate. We used to have some really creative ones, I would love to see a resurgance of competition and creativity.”
