Spring into summer with us
Almost as quickly as the flowers began to bloom in East Texas, spring soon gave way to a hot, rainy, muggy early summer. All of which has been good for local farmers and gardeners – the Palestine Farmers Market is in full-swing, with lots of local produce to pick from. You’ ll see some photos of the market, along with a few familiar faces in our Around Town photo spread.
Also in this month’ s edition we introduce you to Precinct 2 County Commissioner Rashad Mims, who was honored with the title of“ Man of the Year” at this year’ s Black History Gala. Another article highlights work being done by the Palestine Community Theatre to preserve the historic Texas Theatre. We also turn a
spotlight on efforts to save the historical Mount Vernon AME Church and learn about cask conditioned ale from columnist Chris Keller.
