The Elkhart Elks showed flashes of their potential this past year under head coach Luke Goode . Despite their 2-8 record , the Elks proved what type of offense that had the potential of being against several opponents . In Goode ’ s first year over the program , Elkhart failed to eclipse 30 points once . In 2021 , that had two games of 30 or more points and one 40-point game . This year , they boasted three 40-point games . It was in large part due to the player of quarterback Trystyn Tidrow . Tidrow was a multi-week Pizza Hut Division II . Top Performer of the Week for the Elks . He finished with 1,723 yards passing and 17 touchdowns , while adding 322 yards rushing and seven touchdowns . He had one of the most dynamic performances of the season against White Oak in a 55-52 shootout when he passed for 420 yards and six touchdowns . He also rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown in that game . Also helping their offense was sophomore wide receiver Jayden Chapman . Chapman shined in his sophomore year for the Elks with 58 receptions , 826 yards receiving and eight touchdowns . Chapman was named Pizza Hut ’ s Week 5 Top Performer after going for 265 yards and four touchdowns on 11 receptions during the game against White Oak . Up front helping to keep the pocket clean for Tidrow was two-time first-team All-District offensive lineman Lamont Smith . He posted 25 pancakes , graded out at 96 % and allowed one sack on the year at offensive tackle . Smith was also named to the first-team defensive line after recording 52 total tackles , three sacks , 13 hurries , six tackles for loss and one fumble recovery . Joining Chapman and Smith on first-team All-District was linebacker Bryant Lipsey . Running backs Taylor Stafford and Aaron Diaz also had moments of brilliance , especially in their 64-22 over Florence in week nine . Stafford carried the ball 20 times for 279 yards and three touchdowns . Diaz
