AROUND TOWN
Lots of big celebrations and events were held in the first quarter of 2024 . In February , Palestine honored Black History Month with multiple celebrations , including Mayor Mitchell Jordan and the LEAD Team ’ s Black Sports History gala , honoring Sandra Cummings-Glover , Tommy Blake , Ivory Lee Brown , Hunkie Cooper , Portia Hill-Hatten , Adrian Peterson , Billy Lawson , Guy Brown , Bonita Jackson , Keith Crawford , Mayor Mitchell Jordan and Jeffrey Wilson pictured top . Later in the month , the Palestine Area Chamber held its annual membership banquet and proclaimed Ernie Williams as Citizen of the Year and the good times rolled through the streets of Palestine during the annual Mardi Gras parade . In March , LS Tractor introduced itself to Palestine with a grand opening celebration . Altrusa raised money for scholarships with its annual Chicken Spaghetti Fundraiser and the Anderson County Youth Livestock Association hosted a Cowboy Ball . We ended the quarter on a high note with big community Easter celebrations .
