In what is quickly becoming tradition , both the Frankston Maidens and Indians made the playoffs once again in the 2023 – 24 basketball season . The Maiden ’ s finished out their year with a 20-9 overall record , and 6-4 within district play , earning another berth into the UIL playoffs . The 6-4 record seated Frankston in the third slot of the District 19 – 2A standings , right behind powers Martins Mill , who won the State Championship , and LaPoynor .
After defeating Leon , 50 – 40 , in the bi-district round of the playoffs , the Maidens fell in the area round to the Marlin Lady Bulldogs to end their season .
The Maiden ’ s will be losing six seniors off of this year ’ s team , including All-District guard Mariyah Hatton , and will be looking to re-tool in the next season . Soon to be senior guard , Wila Davis , will be one of the few Maidens that has played key minutes to return next year , along with Caylin Freeman and Desirae and Aryonna Hatton .
But , under the guidance of head coach Christi Coker , the Maidens should turn in another great season next year , and challenge them again for a playoff spot .
The Indians also found themselves in the playoffs this year , posting a 26-8 overall record , and 7-3 in District 19-2A play .
After having a successful regular season , and finishing third in the district standings , Frankston fell in the first round of the playoffs in a hard fought contest with the Centerville Tigers , 48 – 45 .
While it may not have been the end that the Indians were looking for in their season , Frankston will be returning a ton of talent for the 2024 – 25 campaign , and will look to get over the bi-district round hump that has plagued the Indians .
Jake Westbrook , who is going into a senior year , will look to propel his Indians further than ever next season . Westbrook is one of the most effective scoring options in Anderson County and will lead the talented group next season . Big man Zaylyn Donnell will also be a big factor , as his 6 ’ 4 presence will be a key factor in the paint .
There will be a new coach walking the sidelines for the Indians next season for the first time since 2017 , as Coach Scott Albritton will not be returning . The next coach for the program will inherit a team that is ready to win now , with high expectations .
