LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL HITS THE FIELD

From smartphones and social media to TV and tablet-based toys , today ’ s kids are constantly consumed by technology . Gone are the times of playing outside from sunrise to sundown . In is a new age of internet-based friendship and fulfillment .
Most generations can remember childhoods filled with neighborhood activities that involved physical activity and interactions that provoke rich memories , even today . Parents shooed us outside in the morning and called you back for meals .
However , the Palestine YMCA and Palestine ’ s Youth Sports
Organization continue to offer those traditional forms of entertainment that you can find every Saturday at the Palestine Athletic Complex .
Presented during those several hours of tee-ball and little league baseball are the unstructured and collaborative fun that returns a wholesome feel to youth sports .
In a world characterized by competition and pursuing individual achievements , you watch kids enjoying the purity of sports while developing social skills , friendships and keeping them physically active .
With each new skill picked up on the field , youth players are also learning a valuable lesson that can be used off the field .
