Walk of Lights, the local outdoor park featuring holiday themes and characters, is open each weekend, 6 to 9 p. m. Friday to Sunday, through Dec. 30. The familyowned attraction, located on private land just north of town on 2161 FM 315, has hosted 8,000 visitors in 2024 and tens of thousands since opening in 2019.
Holiday characters such as Santa, who has a toy shop and the Grinch, who has his own shed, are played by live actors who pose for photos with visitors. Both the Grinch and Santa have their own separate themed areas with lighted blow-up displays, while Jesus Land features three large crosses.

“ Our main attraction is our 30-foot cross and Jesus Land,” said Tammy Graham, co-owner of Walk of Lights.“ A lot of people say they go down there and feel peace.”
Concessions include hot chocolate, hot apple cider, cream cheese brownies, hot dogs, popcorn, nachos and pickles. Various vendors will sell items on some days.
Walk of Lights is open as weather permits, so visitors are advised to look for updates on its Facebook page.
“ Always follow us on Facebook because if it rains we can’ t have it,” Graham said.“ I usually post by 5 o’ clock.”
The park stays open until 10 p. m. on Dec. 6 to allow visitors enough time to visit after the annual Christmas parade.
Several special events, such as the Blue Santa Toy Drive and live performances by members of the Palestine Community
Theatre, are planned but not yet scheduled this year. Park owners will post more information to their Facebook page when dates have been determined.
The park is available for rental to groups or parties any evening, Monday through Thursday. Two local schools rented the park last year for different events.
“ We do book the park for private events on our off days,” Graham said.“ At nighttime because it’ s prettier.”
Some visitors come to Palestine every year just to visit the park.
“ There’ s a lady who stays at The Redlands every year just to come to the Walk of Lights,” Graham said.
Admission is $ 20 per vehicle for up to 6 people and $ 3 for each additional person. For information, email walkoflights2019 @ gmail. com.
