Enjoy the colors of fall with a scenic drive through the Pineywoods
The Pineywoods Autumn Trail starts in Palestine and navigates a 145-mile scenic fall foliage drive to Athens and back, through the piney woods region of the Texas Forest Trail.
Each fall, the picturesque landscape transforms to vibrant colors throughout the East Texas woodlands.
As the leaves begin to change, locals and visitors alike enjoy outdoor adventures, train excursions, local cuisine, shopping and scenic driving routes along breathtaking back roads and throughout our parks.
Davey Dogwood Park offers 200 acres of forested land with hard surface roads, hiking and biking trails and scenic views.
The season also offers amazing color for picnics, photo shoots, hiking and nature walks in the 700-acre community forest.
Autumn color arrives in Anderson County around late October and last through late November, typically peaking during the week of Thanksgiving.
