for the Wildcats , consistently supplying a spark of energy when Palestine needed a big play . The senior finished the season with 63 tackles and six sacks . With the retirement of Palestine head coach and athletic director Lance Angel being announced early in the spring semester , the incoming staff for the Wildcats will have large holes in the team to fill , as all players mentioned , with the exception of Denman , will be graduating with the class of 2024 . The Wildcats will also lose their leading receiver , K ’ mari Gibson , and several starting offensive lineman , as well as a large portion of their starting defense . But with a strong tradition of excellence , and potentially
a new brand of football on the way with the coaching changes , Palestine will look to surge back into the playoffs in 2024 . Former Palestine head coach Angel announced his retirement in early January , ending his 31 year run in the education and coaching fields . Coach Angel served as head coach and athletic director for the Wildcats from 2010-2014 , before leaving to become athletic director in Bryan . Angel returned to Palestine in 2019 , and collected his 100th career win in the 2023 season , a 42-7 win against the Livingston Lions , and ended his career with 103 victories .
