Supporting New and Existing Businesses In 2024 , several new businesses opened their doors in Palestine , creating jobs and enhancing the quality of life for residents . Notable additions to our community include LS Tractor , Aldi , Marshalls , Ross , 7 Brew Coffee , Ulta Beauty , and Smoothie King . Furthermore , several exciting developments are currently under construction , such as the CHRISTUS Emergency Hospital Campus , Aspen Dental , Urgent Care , and the Parachute Plasma Donation Center . The PEDC would like to extend a special acknowledgment to LS Tractor , Texas Futura , Thorough Foods Company , and Callizo Aromas — businesses that the EDC proudly assisted in establishing their presence in Palestine .
Meet the PEDC Team
Christophe Trahan Economic Development Director Christophe Trahan was born in Lafayette , LA , and moved to East Texas just before his ninth birthday . Christophe graduated from East Texas Baptist University in 2017 and began his career in economic development a year later in his hometown of Linden , TX . After serving as the director of the Linden Economic Development Corporations and the Wood County Economic Development Commission , Christophe moved to Palestine in November 2022 . Christophe ' s favorite local tradition is the Pepper Eating Contest at the annual Hot Pepper Festival where he has competed two years in a row .
Lisa Bowman Administrative Assistant Lisa Bowman was born at Lackland AFB near San Antonio , TX , and moved to Palestine at the age of five . A graduate of Palestine ISD , she earned her diploma with the Class of 2007 , where she actively participated in Drill Team and Theatre . Lisa is the proud mother of two children , Anna ( 14 ) and Alex ( 12 ). She began her role with Palestine Economic Development in August 2021 . One of her favorite local traditions is attending the annual Hot Pepper Festival .
Will James Business Intelligence & Marketing Analyst Will James , a proud Palestine native , graduated from Palestine ISD and then earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University . With a deep-rooted passion for his hometown , Will is dedicated to driving its growth and prosperity . In his role as Business Intelligence & Marketing Analyst , he utilizes innovative marketing strategies to support business recruitment , retention , and expansion , helping to create new opportunities and foster economic development in Palestine . Will ’ s favorite hometown tradition is walking the streets of Downtown during various festivals throughout the year .
Reflecting on 2024 : A Year of Growth and Collaboration “ Our mission is to have a positive impact on the community ,” says Christophe Trahan , Economic Development Director for PEDC . “ We really feel like that impact is coming to the surface more than ever , and what ’ s truly exciting is seeing the community buying in and benefiting as stakeholders of our broader strategic plan . At its core , economic development is really a larger , team effort with our friends and neighbors .”
