[he] saw every day in his office” (229), is the author’s therapist in the asylum.
The author states that Nattochdag is a “distinguished Zemblan scholar” (237).
The author claims to be the exiled King of a foreign country called Zembla.
Since the author is insane, the country of Zembla is made up in his carrousel
mind. The only person who would know as much about the made-up country of
Zembla as the author would be the person he is the person who he is constantly
talking to about it. This makes Dr. Nattochdag the Zemblan scholar because he
is the only person who knows as much about Zembla as the author does. Alt-
hough this interpretation has a greater number of clues than the previous two it
is still not the winner of the Zemblan Ping Pong Tournament because there was
one interpretation with a more sustainable amount of evidence.
Ladies and Gentleman, the moment you have all been waiting for the win-
ner of the Zemblan Ping Pong Tournament. Although a close game, the winner
had a significant number of clues for its interpretation that the judges could not
ignore. The winner of the Zemblan Ping Pong Tournament is Hazel and Kin-
