60 It’s almost as important to talk about who’s NOT playing in the pro champions’ division at the 2014 PSP World Cup as it is who will be competing at the highest level. Aftershock, the most famous and successful team in World Cup history since the 10-man days, was unable to secure a spot in the ultra-competitive champions’ division for the World Cup, and though they can still add a World Cup title to their long list of previous Cup victories, it will have to be in the Challengers’ division. They are certainly capable of it too, as their team is adding experience to their impressive speed and gun-fighting skill, in addition to the World Cup karma they have always enjoyed. Joining Aftershock in the pro challengers division at the 2014 World Cup is, in a shocker, the most successful and popular professional paintball team of all time, Dynasty. Relegated to the challengers division after being frustrated at the PSP West Coast Open, the team that rosters great names including Oliver Lang and Ryan Greenspan are will likely be playing angry with something to prove at the 2014 World Cup, and when Dynasty plays angry paintball they’re dangerous no matter who’s at the other end of the field. It’s a good bet it won’t be long before we see the legendary team in blue back in the Champion’s division of PSP competition, and it may be the 2014 World Cup where we see them smash their opponents on their way. September 2014 Yet another great team that has endured a frustrating few events to find themselves still in the Challengers division at the 2014 World Cup is Infamous. This Empire factory team has won numerous events in the past, including an event in 2014, but encountered a string of bad luck and rough calls that has seen them remain in the Challengers division for World Cup, and due to the arrival of Aftershock and Dynasty, not to mention the rest of the Challengers teams who want a shot at Champions glory, it won’t be easy for them to climb back up. A World Cup trophy would set them up for another run at it next season, and you can be sure they know that and are prepared to get after it in Florida in October. In the top division at the World Cup, the Champions Division, things are certainly going to be competitive. Houston Heat is hungry and looking for a champions win in 2014 after a frustrating season that saw them drop down to the challengers division before climbing back out, and you can be a roster so stacked with talent is going to leave it all on the field at the final event of 2014. Then there’s Edmonton Impact. These Canadians (mostly, sorry JRab) are enjoying one of their best seasons ever, with a PSP win under their belts along with an amazing string of overseas glory in the Millennium Series.
