In the quarterfinals amazingly Edmonton
Impact again won their match 5-0 again,
this time beating Outrage Valence. Frankfurt
Syndicate beat Paris Camp Carnage, Houston
Heat won its match against last event’s runner up Breakout spa and Polar Bears Tarko
Sale got by Marseille Icon by a single point.
In the semifinals matchup between two
North American teams it was Houston Heat
scoring the first Campaign Cup points against
Edmonton Impact, but it wasn’t enough. Impact took the match 5-2. Joining them in the
finals would be Polar Bears Tarko Sale who
sent Frankfurt Syndicate home one round
early with a 3-2 win.
Once again in the finals Edmonton Impact
proved to be too strong, too fast and too
surgical as they easily handled a very good
team, beating the Russian team Polar Bears
Tarko Sale 5-2 to win their third straight
Millennium Series event. Houston Heat beat
Frankfurt Syndicate 4-3 to claim third place
in the CPL.
In the SPL1 the Copenhagen Ducks were
very lucky to survive a slow start in the preliminary rounds. After an opening game loss,
they bounced back to win a one-point match
and then put forth a much stronger effort
against Scorpions Milano, squeaking into the
round of 16. In the 16 the Ducks won another tough one-point battle, this time against
FiveStar Lleida, 2-1. Keeping with the “barely
made it” theme the Ducks then won another 2-1 game against Ranger Warsaw in the
quarterfinals. Guess what happened in the
semifinals? Yes, another one-point win by the
score of 3-2 over Drammen Solid. Could the
Ducks roll all the way to a championship with
one-point victories? Yes they could, and yes
they did as they beat Hulk Kiev in the finals
2-1. Drammen Solid took third place with a
win over Amsterdam Heat.
