A true telling of the paintball World Cup history could
fill an entire magazine. Founded by long time paintball field owner, player and promoter Jerry Braun, the
World Cup’s early events were played in Newburg,
New York. Teams like Aftershock, the All Americans,
Ironmen, Tour De Force, Wild Geese, Eagles and the
UK Predators, to name a few, battled for world notoriety on paintball’s biggest stage. The Word Cup’s
original 15-man events were played in the woods
before there was an NPPL or PSP. Later the event
was sanctioned by the NPPL and played in a ten-man
woodsball format. In 1994 the event moved to Kissimmee, Florida where it was played in the woods
and in a Hyperball arena setting. The World Cup
moved to two locations in Kissimmee, then to Disney’s Wide World of Sports and onto Fantasy of Flight
where it is currently being held.
