As with any new hopper, all the features in
the world don’t mean a thing if it doesn’t
handle business inside the net. The Pinokio
Speed performs well, tested in both competitive paintball and in scenario and woodsball
play. The extremely small, lightweight Speed
switches on and off with a single touch of its
only button and sits much further forward on
a player’s marker than other hoppers, allowing the shooter a clearer, unimpeded line
of sight. This, according to Pinokio, was not
part of the design but a “happy accident”
resulting from the placement of the hopper’s
feed tray. The hopper sits much lower on
markers than the previous Pinokio and is obviously extremely light and a smaller target.
Even at the fastest fire rates, the Speed kept
up without any difficulty and reloading with
a 140 round pod is quick and easy. Players making use of Pinokio 180 round pods
may find reloading a little difficult at
first, as the pods and the Speed hold
exactly the same amount of paintballs
forcing the shooter to wait until their
hopper runs dry to reload without
spilling. However, as the hopper is not
a force-feed loader, the Speed does
not “popcorn” or bobble paintballs
when running low. None of the paintball markers on which the Speed was
tested, from a CCM 6.5 pump and an
Empire Resurrection Autococker to a
Vanguard Demon, Tippmann Crossover XVR, Bob Long Insight, Eclipse
Ego and a JT Impulse, chopped or
broke a single paintball in even cold
weather shooting tournament-grade
paintballs from Valken, Empire and GI.
Perhaps the best feature of the Pinokio
Speed is its price tag, as it is expected
to retail at an impressive $129.95.
2013 with full production starting and inventory in-stock in early 2014. In a paintball
world in which impressive, high-end hoppers
are getting more plentiful all the time, the
Pinokio Speed, with light weight, fast feed
rates, simplicity and reliability, looks able to
compete with even the toughest competitor.

Lighter, smaller, faster and in many
ways much better than the original
Pinokio hopper, the Speed looks to be
a hit for the small, Virginia company.

run will be in just before Christmas
